HEART HEADED BACK ON THE ROAD

Ann 2004

Ann 2004

From WMMR.com: Ann and Nancy Wilson will be back devoting their attention to Heart for the next six months, having announced a bunch of new tour dates for the first half of the year. Heart kicks off it’s 2010 gigs on January 29th and 30th at the Las Vegas Hilton, and so far, will wrap up their dates on May 29th in Indio, California.

The Wilson sisters spread their wings in 2009, collaborating on the children’s book Dog And Butterfly — which was inspired by their 1978 album of the same name. In October, Nancy also released a set of acoustic children’s lullabies called Baby Guitars.

Ann Wilson says that she’s proud that Heart still tries to grow both in the studio as well as on stage: “Well, you know, we’re not bound by the Heart tradition. Heart is now a brand name that we worked really hard on, and now we’re not selling that brand of soap. It’s funny how you can get into a prison of your own making with a big-name band like that, and all of a sudden, you look around yourself and you go, ‘Jesus, I don’t want to do this. That’s not really where we’re at.’”

Nancy Wilson says that Heart has been caught in a strange place throughout the years, with management and record labels pushing the band to not develop as artists: “They tell you not to reinvent yourself. They tell you that your fans have an identity that they know, that is familiar to them, that they don’t want to change. It’s interesting. But in our case, I mean, we’ve been able to change a lot, but we’ve had to fight to be able to change a lot (laugh).” )

More artist thoughts on joining the 2010 Lilith Tour:

Country legend Loretta Lynn:

“I’m happy they wanted me on this Lilith tour. I have never done shows just with other girl singers before.  When I first started out, they said girl singers couldn’t sell records or concert tickets.  We’ve come a long way since then and we’re gonna have a big time out there!”

Rock duo Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart:

“We are thrilled that Lilith 2010 is in our future…to be a part of all that depth and power will be beyond exciting! This is stunning intent for women of the new decade.”

Australian singer/songwriter Missy Higgins:

“Lilith Fair was always one of those things that I wish I’d been a cool enough kid to know about and go to! But even if I had known about it then, I would’ve been on the other side of the world here in Australia. I’ve always secretly hoped they’d bring it back so that I could beg to be a part of it! Needless to say I’m really excited to have been asked, especially as this is the first Lilith to be taken to the new generation.”

The 2010 Lilith Tour previously announced a multi-platform media partnership with ABC Entertainment, which entails creative collaboration in weaving confirmed artists and Lilith across ABC’s programming and online in the months leading up to and during next summer’s tour, including ABC’s physical presence at each tour date.  More details to follow.

New album update!

Creativity!

Creativity!

ibrian was so bold to ask a couple of questions on the official BBS!

• Are there any guest musicians on the new Heart Album?
Management: If there are or are not – I would rather not tell as I believe there are many mongers who would rather be “surprised” so I’ll keep my lip zipped on that one.

• Is a new version of “Sand” still being considered for the new Album?
Management: Yes

• Are they being courted by any labels or will they go independent again?
Management: There is label interest and there is always that possibility they’ll go indie again. It’s really up to them and what the majors bring to the table for any consideration on which direction.

• What chance is there that the new Album will be released on Nancy’s birthday? It falls on a Tuesday, the traditional new release day in the US! What better day to release it?!
Management: That will most likely not happen as we would’ve had a label and marketing team on by now to support a March release.

Thanx to ibrian for the initiative to ask questions!!!

TOP 2009 CONCERTS ‘Idol’ worship and a couple of classics

minus CT

YOUNGSTOWN — Classic rockers and “American Idol” stars dominated the local concert scene in 2009, a year that also saw a lot of return visits by bands.

The timing couldn’t have been better for the Journey/Heart show at Covelli Centre. A resurgent wave of Journey-mania was still going strong, making the Aug. 20 concert the biggest of the year.

Both bands presented nothing-but-hits sets from way back when. But while the sold-out crowd was mainly there to see Journey, Heart actually sounded better. Journey’s soaring vocals and driving rhythms were perfect for creating a wall of echo, while Heart’s more precise tunes came out much clearer. Ann Wilson’s amazing voice sounds exactly like it did in the ’80s. And her sister, guitarist Nancy Wilson, fortunately still looks exactly like she did in the ’80s.
