New album update!

Creativity!

Creativity!

ibrian was so bold to ask a couple of questions on the official BBS!

• Are there any guest musicians on the new Heart Album?
Management: If there are or are not – I would rather not tell as I believe there are many mongers who would rather be “surprised” so I’ll keep my lip zipped on that one.

• Is a new version of “Sand” still being considered for the new Album?
Management: Yes

• Are they being courted by any labels or will they go independent again?
Management: There is label interest and there is always that possibility they’ll go indie again. It’s really up to them and what the majors bring to the table for any consideration on which direction.

• What chance is there that the new Album will be released on Nancy’s birthday? It falls on a Tuesday, the traditional new release day in the US! What better day to release it?!
Management: That will most likely not happen as we would’ve had a label and marketing team on by now to support a March release.

Thanx to ibrian for the initiative to ask questions!!!

Nancy about the new album:

Nancy

Nancy Wilson, September 2009: Now we’re working on a new album, which is again more of a rootsier thing. We’re working with Ben Mink, the producer who got a Grammy with k.d. lang for “Ingenue” and worked with Barenaked Ladies and did stuff with Feist on her last solo album as well. He’s a producer we’ve sort of been trying to court for 10 years, and we find that the new songs are really sounding incredible.

In some ways, it’s a fresh sound that still has its roots in the very beginning sounds, the very first sounds we had in the ’70s, when everybody was playing in the same room, with eye contact and having a real human dialogue musically – not a digital construct. That’s an exciting sound for us to be working on right now. It’s coming out pretty early in the new year. We’re getting close. Between the tours, we’re doing the album.

You’re on tour right now. Where are you calling from?

Well, right now I’m in Albany, NY. We’re on tour right now in between recording sessions. So we’ve been really busy putting together the songs for the new album.

A new Heart album?

We’re making a new album and we’re working with producer Ben Mink.

K.D. Lang’s guy?

Yeah! He also did Ann [Wilson]’s last solo album, Hope & Glory. We’re kind of busy right now doing what we love to do.

What kind of set are you putting together? And do you have new material that you’re playing?

We’re doing one of the new songs on some of the shows. Usually, it needs to be an indoor situation where there’s more of a magical atmosphere, or a theater atmosphere. And the bigger outdoor shows … largely, we’re playing a lot of really recognizable things. But we change up the way we’re doing them so it’s kind of fresh again for everybody. It’s been really exciting this summer. It’s just been a really great turnout. All ages are showing up. You know, “Guitar Hero” and “American Idol” are bringing out a lot of the much younger kids.

About the new album:

Oh, we’re working with producer Ben Mink right now, who’s somebody we’ve been actually trying to get ahold of and work with for almost 20 years, really. This is the type of album we’ve wanted to make for a long, long time, and we should get it out early in the new year. So far we’re just extremely happy with the results.

Fans Are Still ‘Crazy on’ Heart

A nice article in the The Sedalia Democrat talking about how Heart gains new followers through American Idol and Guitarhero. If you are one of them…. welcome to my site! It’s an interview with Nancy Wilson to promote tonights show at Missouri State Fair grandstand in Sedalia. Oh if only I was there….

Everybody grab a snowflake!

Plus she shays the following about the new album:

But Wilson — who, along with lead singer and sister Ann, is the face of the band — hopes to sneak at least one song from a planned 2010 release into the set.

“So far, what we’ve been doing is heavy acoustic rock,” Wilson said of the new record. “Our engineer knows how to record acoustic guitars like no one else. It’s an extremely heavy, human sound. It’s all of us playing together at the same time in the same room, so there’s a performance aspect not constructed in the studio. … When you’re actually having a conversation with other players, it only happens in a room. It’s a rare thing.”

From Livedaily: Heart fills out summer tour plans

Just 36?

Just 36?

Now two months into their latest tour, iconic rockers Heart have added a few more concerts to the pair’s US road trip.

The duo–made up of sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson–first hit the road in May and will continue the lengthy summer outing tonight (7/9) in San Diego. With an additional 11 shows now on the books, the group is slated to stop by fairgrounds, arenas and casinos in 36 cities from coast to coast. Many of the summer gigs will have the sisters sharing the stage with classic rockers Journey. The full itinerary is detailed below.

“Jupiter’s Darling,” Heart’s most recent studio effort, surfaced in 2004 and marked the pair’s first new material since 1995. The sibling musicians were given the ASCAP Founders Award at the organization’s 26th Annual Pop Music Awards in April.

According to an ASCAP-related press release, Heart is also preparing to enter the studio some time this year to work on the duo’s 14th studio album.

In honor of the 30th anniversary of their multi-platinum 1978 release “Dog & Butterfly,” the pair has unveiled a limited-edition plaque featuring a platinum-plated copy of the breakthrough record. The personalized momento can be pre-ordered now via the duo’s website.

The Muskegon Chronicle
Review: Heart’s performance at Muskegon Summer Celebration 2009 will be remembered as one of the greatest performances in the festival’s history.

(Award No. 1-5 (with 5 being best)
Song selection: 5
Crowd reaction: 5
Stage presence: 5
Sound quality: 5
Overall performance: 5

Attendance: 15,500.

Number of songs: 15, plus an additional two songs during their encore.

From the moment they stepped on stage, the band, led by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, delivered one electrying moment after another.

The crowd’s frenzied reaction seemed to grow more intense after each song –”Crazy On You,” “Barracuda,” “Dog & Butterfly,” — until seemingly reaching a crescendo as the band tore into The Who classic “Love, Reign o’er Me.”

Nope. The Wilson sisters were just warming up. They were only midway through their two-hour set.

Ann Wilson also delivered the news that Heart fans have been dying to hear — the band in early 2010 is expected to release their first album of all new material since 2004’s Jupiter’s Darling, which Nancy Wilson produced.

Taking a threat to Heart

Muskegon Summer Celebration security was on high alert on Friday due to threats that members of Heart have been receiving for the past several weeks, festival director Joe Austin said.

The threats, which have been directed at band leaders Ann and Nancy Wilson, don’t appear to be related to their Muskegon visit, said Austin.

A high number of Muskegon Police patrolled the grounds and beefed up security blocked all access to the performers’ area.
